The AGM range features low internal resistance, making it ideal for high discharge current applications such as inverters, drives and winches. The GEL range, on the other hand, offers excellent deep cycle performance and a longer overall life. High purity materials and lead-calcium grids ensure that both AGM and GEL products have minimal self-discharge, preventing them from discharging over extended periods without charging.

Both ranges are supplied with drilled M8 flat copper terminals, ensuring optimal connection contact and eliminating the need for battery clamps. These batteries are CE and UL compliant, housed in fire-resistant ABS containers and are covered by Victron’s 2-year worldwide warranty.

VRLA AGM: 7-10 year design life
VRLA GEL: 12 year design life

Key Features

VRLA technology
VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) batteries are sealed, meaning that gas only escapes through safety valves in the event of overcharging or cell failure. They are maintenance-free throughout their life.

Sealed (VRLA) AGM batteries
AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries contain an electrolyte that is absorbed by capillary action into a glass fiber mat between the plates. As detailed in our book "Energy Without Limits", AGM batteries are better suited to delivering high currents for short periods of time than gel batteries.

Sealed (VRLA) Gel Batteries
In gel batteries, the electrolyte is immobilized as a gel. Gel batteries typically have a longer life and better cyclic capacity than AGM batteries.

Low self-discharge
Thanks to the use of lead-calcium grids and high purity materials, Victron VRLA batteries boast a low self-discharge rate of less than 2% per month at 20°C. For every 10°C increase in temperature, the self-discharge rate doubles. As a result, Victron VRLA batteries can be stored for up to a year without the need for recharging, provided they are stored in cool conditions.

Exceptional deep discharge recovery
Victron VRLA batteries exhibit exceptional discharge recovery, even after deep or prolonged discharge. However, it is important to note that repeated deep and prolonged discharge can have a significant negative impact on the lifespan of all lead-acid batteries, including Victron batteries.
